Purpose and Scope

The Front Desk Receptionist is the “Ambassador of First Impressions” for The Gideons International and will deliver a welcoming experience for members and guests. Receptionist responsibilities include offering administrative support across the organization and coordination of front-desk activities. The successful Receptionist will strike a balance by combining communication skills with technical skills to build a successful, hospitable environment.

Essential Job Functions
Greet and direct visitors to the proper person or place
Give Heritage Center tours to members and guests
Provide hospitality to visiting groups including scheduling, preparation of meeting space, serving meals
Take inventory of supplies and restock as needed
Provide Outbound calls to non-member Scripture request venues
Make pastor reference calls for prospective applicants
Maintain office security by following procedures (visitor logbook, visitor name badges)
Receive and process USA non-member Scripture requests (Hotels, hospitals, nursing homes, doctors’ offices, shelters, clinics, etc.) Determine the appropriate camp responsible for the distribution area and generate the letters with request information
Maintain proper files for all USA Scripture requests, new believers, Heritage Center tours
Input data entry (membership application, etc.)
Receive and sign for special delivery letters, small deliveries, and services, as needed
Ensure reception area is tidy, presentable and welcoming
Participate in daily morning staff devotions; on a rotating basis serve by praying and reading Scripture in support of devotion leader.

Works Closely With:    (Internal) Auxiliary Operations, Building Services, Headquarter Staff
(External) Non-Members, members and other headquarter guests

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Training & Development

Non-physical
Follow verbal and written instructions
Ability to use PC and widely used software applications, especially Microsoft Office applications
Experience answering multi-line phone systems
Ability to learn new software applications as necessary
Ability to provide analytical skills
Ability to communicate effectively with staff, guests, Gideons and non-Gideons

Minimum Qualifications

Associate degree or equivalent experience
3-5 years of administrative/receptionist experience
PC experience, especially in Microsoft Office applications
Successful completion of a drug and background screen
